Do you know how to hold a baby?

I'm sure everyone has held a baby before, but did you do it correctly? I came to this realization tonight when I was holding my boyfriend's newborn nephew. As I watched the baby's mom hold him, I thought about how careful you have to be. Not everyone realizes this. Some people pick up a baby and figure he or she can hold his or her head up on their own. Not only that, but some people carry their baby around like a baby doll. A real life baby and a baby doll are two completely different things.
Babies are helpless little human beings and need tender loving care more than anything. If you have never held a baby before, just think about the future. Most of you are planning on having children someday and need to be ready. My boyfriend's brother-in-law is not well acquainted with the way of holding a baby. It made me realize how unprepared some parents might be. He propped the baby up on his stomach to sleep, which seemed a little risky. I wasn't sure how well he could breathe.
Babies are little people that look to their caregivers for support and love. The way you hold a baby doesn't seem very important, when in reality it is vital. When holding a baby, make sure that you always support their necks. Babies, especially newborns, don't have the strength to hold their heads up on their own and need help. Also, when handing the baby over to someone else, make sure that they have a firm grasp on the baby. You don't want the baby to end up on the floor or anywhere else they shouldn't be.

wrong title. woops!

So, my last blog is supposed to say week 6. Not week 5.

week 5 blog =)

As a college student, I am finding that having someone, besides myself, read my papers over is a gigantic help. When I was younger, and even up through high school, I figured that after I wrote a rough draft a certain way that I should keep it. I mean, I did do a few changes here and there to my papers, after receiving comments from my teachers, but I never took into consideration that I could always make my papers better.
Now that I am in college, and have many more resources to help me with my papers, I work harder on really changing my rough draft. A rough draft is just a way of getting everything on paper that is in my head. Just because I have all of my thoughts written down, doesn't mean that it is any good. My rough draft is just an overview and plan of how I want to write my paper. Although, if the structure of a paper I write is okay in my rough draft, I can always keep it and just fix my sentence structures and details.
Having someone else look over my papers, gives me an outside view of how well I've written my paper. That person can provide me with different view points and ideas. Even if the person that is looking over my paper likes what I've written so far, it can still encourage me to add on to what I've done to make it that much better. Why not use such an easy tool when the oppurtunity arises? It can't hurt me. It can only help.
